About

The interest in emotion and in the non-verbal communication of humans and animals runs like a common thread through my work.

My goal: 
Capture some of life's mysteries on canvas, by capturing and clearly communicating a specific energy, emotion or movement. I make a quick sketch of interactions from everyday life that make me smile. When the time comes, the real work begins: the search for a catchy composition and colors. 

Emotions are fleeting and color our lives. 
I paint with a loose touch and use a warm, bright color palette. The areas of color are broken through, or accentuated, by straight lines. The lines serve to emphasize boundaries, strength and attitude. I omit details that distract from the intended idea. 

In this way I strive for a cheerfully abstracted image of everyday situations.
